Tuesday’s Tip: This week my tip has nothing to do with beauty but definitely will make your trip to our salon much less stressful. As many of you may know, there has been road construction going on on Silverdale Way, from NW Byron Street to NW Anderson Hill Road. The project will be ongoing until at least September and possibly until the end of 2018. When completed it will so much nicer! The roadway will be widened to 5 lanes, 5’ bike lanes are to be added, & the existing storm system will be upgraded. I have included a map of alternate routes to take so you can avoid the areas of construction allowing your to arrive Belleza Salon on time for your appointment. For more info I’ve provided the link to the county website regarding this project where you can sign up for updates. http://kitsap.paladinpanoramic.com/project/2232/54723
Tuesday's Tip: Did you know that the type of hair brush you use on a daily basis can bake a difference in the condition of your hair? Have you ever considered a natural boar bristle brush? Brushing your hair with a boar bristle brush breaks up the sebum, (your natural oils), at the scalp and distributes it throughout the hair, which, in turn, conditions your hair, reduces frizz, gives your hair a better texture and stimulates the scalp, contributing to good healthy hair growth. Natural boar bristle brushes also finish a style impeccably. They’re perfect for reducing fly-aways in a perfectly coiffed Hollywood Glamour Red Carpet Style. Next time you reach for your hairbrush, take a good look at it. I bet you’re ready for a new one, one with a purpose.
Tuesday's Tip: I have conversations every day with clients in my chair and one tip that seems to come up frequently is the idea of brushing your hair before jumping in the shower to wash it. Many of my clients have curly hair and us curly girls just don't run a brush through our hair, nor do we shampoo every day. Invest in a good boar bristle brush and take this time to give your hair and scalp a good brushing. This will massage and exfoliate the scalp which will increase the blood flow to the scalp & hair follicles stimulating healthy hair growth. Makes sense doesn't it? So much of our hair falls out and ends up going down the drain only to collect and clog it up anyway.
Tuesday's Tip: Do you really know what's in the products you routinely use on your body every day? The creams you slather on your skin, the soaps you use to wash up, the shampoos & conditioners you use to cleanse & condition your hair..... Many cosmetics & personal care products contain chemicals known as parabens and phthalates, which recent studies indicate may be linked to cancer development. Parabens are chemical preservatives that have been identified as estrogenic and disruptive of normal hormone function. Estrogenic chemicals mimic the function of the naturally occurring hormone estrogen, and exposure to external estrogens has been shown to increase the risk of breast cancer. Phthalates are known to cause a broad range of birth defects and lifelong reproductive problems in laboratory animals exposed to these chemicals during pregnancy and after birth. Phthalates are also known to be hormone-mimicking chemicals, many of which disrupt normal hormonal processes, raising concern about their implications for increased breast cancer risk. According to the FDA’s web site, “Cosmetic manufacturers may use any ingredient they choose, except for a few ingredients that are prohibited by regulation.” However, you can check products for many chemicals -- such as phthalates, parabens, and formaldehyde -- by visiting the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database. The online guide looks at the safety of more than 7,600 ingredients in nearly 62,000 products. You can use it to narrow the cosmetics field to find potentially healthier products. Until there are comprehensive safety standards for personal care products, read the labels for suspect ingredients in the makeups and lotions your teen is clamoring to use. And use common sense. https://bcaction.org/our-take-on-breast-cancer/environment/safe-cosmetics/ https://www.webmd.com/children/features/personal-care-products#1 https://themodcabin.com/what-are-parabens-and-phthalates-and-why-you-should-avoid-them/
